The Protracted Strike embarked upon by the academic staff union of polytechnics (ASUP) May end sooner than you think.
An impecable source from the Federal Ministry of Education who wish to remain anonymous made this know to our grapevine.
According to the source this will depend on the outcome of the following schedules:
Monday 26th of May-White paper NEEDS for Assessment and HND/BSC report would be concluded, submitted from the office of the secretary-general of the federation to the ministry of Education for deliberation and actions.
Tuesday 27th of May- A crucial meeting will be held by the leadership of Academic staff union of polytechnics(ASUP)and Federal ministry of education,to be presided by committee members of the National Assembly.
Wednesday 28th of may-In its final NEC meeting, Academic staff Union of polytechnic,ASUP is expected to deliberate and evaluate the stances agreed upon in their last meeting with Federal Government. If it is satisfactory, the strike would be SUSPENDED,but if the meeting with government was randy and unsatisfactory, then the strike will CONTINUE.
Hopefully,on Monday the 2nd of June,Resumption begins and students are expected to return back to classroom.
ASUP has been on strike since October 2013.
