The President, Women Arise for Change Initiative, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, has denounced the increment in the tuition fees of the Lagos State University, adding that it was unjustifiable and callous.
Okei-Odumakin stated this during an interview with our correspondent in Alagbole-Akute, Ogun State on Saturday.
She said, “The increase in fees at the Lagos State University and other institutions is unjustifiable and a callous agenda of the government and the authorities of those institutions.
“The fee regime does not in any way reflect the economic realities of our country and it is unacceptable that such could be imposed on public-owned institutions. It is outrightly unjust.”
On the campaign for the release of the abducted Chibok girls, she urged the Federal Government to use every possible means to ensure their prompt release.
“The government should engage every possible strategy to ensure that the Chibok girls are brought back alive as soon as possible. No option should be left out by the government in making sure that this is achieved,” she noted.
Okei-Odumakin also advised Nigerian women occupying government positions to focus on programmes which would guarantee the economic liberation of women, and promote healthy living particularly to reduce the incidence of maternal mortality.
