Sequel to the protest embarked on by the students of the Rufus Giwa
Poly, Owo yesterday to demand reduction in school fees, the school has
been temporarily shut down for two(2) weeks.
It was learnt that the protest which was initially peaceful later turned
violent as some of the school facilities including the girls hostel
building, the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) of a new generation bank,
the bank’s signpost and billboards were damaged by the students.
The fees for ND and HND students were increased from 65,000 and 70, 000 to 73, 000 and 90, 000 respectively.
