THE UNIVERSITY of Jos has said that it needs about N6 billion to
finance the newly introduced faculties, namely Veterinary Medicine,
Engineering, and Agriculture.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Hayward Babale Mafuyai,
stated this Friday at a press briefing at the Senate Chambers ahead of
today, July 5, when the Endowment Fund Raising will be launched at
Langfield Leisure Park along Rayfield – Bukuru, Road, Jos.
According to Mafuyai, the programmes are all capital
intensive projects which require the collaboration of stakeholders and
friends of the university as well as its alumni.
He said, “The University of Jos is poised to establish and
equip the new programmes to the best international standards. It is
envisaged that these programmes will deliver on much needed manpower for
the transformation of the economy.
“The programmes will require a lot of financial and material
support to meet up with the requirements of the National Universities
Commission (NUC) and the various professional bodies in Nigeria.
