COEASU alleges manipulation in selection of provost
As candidates jostle for the position of the Provost of the Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, the institution’s chapter of the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union has alleged manipulation in the selection process.
This came as the union urged the Federal Government to appoint one of its competent members as the college provost.
Former Provost, Idowu Adeyemi, who served the college for eight years, retired in June.
The Vice-Chairman of the union, Tope Ozigbe, and the General Secretary, Ade Adepoju, in a statement, on Monday, alleged that there was a manipulation of the process to offer the position to an outsider.
According to them, the college needs someone who understands the system and how to improve it.
The argued, “It will be counter-productive if the Federal Government should go ahead to appoint someone from another university as the provost of the college.”
The union members, who threatened to resist any attempt to appoint an “outsider”, vowed that such an external appointee would not enjoy their cooperation.
