FUNAAB to host climate research programme


The African Academy of Sciences has named the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, as a hosting institution for the Climate Impact Research Capacity and Leadership Enhancement Sub-Saharan African Programme.
The Acting Head, Department of Water Resources Management and Agrometerology, Dr. Gideon Ufoegbune, communicated the news of the hosting right to the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Olusola Oyewole.
Ufoegbune said the programme, among others, would strengthen research capacity in African research institutions, increase the capacity of their researchers as well as strengthen the capacity of AAS to set and implement research programmes based on credible peer-review processes.
In another development, the university has received delegates from the National Universities Commission’s Board on Information and Communication Technology.
The team was at the university to ascertain its level of compliance with the directive on use of ICT in classrooms and lecture theatre.
Receiving the team, Oyewole appreciated NUC for supporting the university with ICT facilities to make its classrooms up-to-date.
