Delta State Police Command has recorded a significant success in the campaign against ransom kidnapping in Delta State with the smashing of a kidnap gang in Ukwani Local Government Area of the state.
The wife of a lecturer at the Delta State University (DELSU) Abraka who was kidnapped in the early hours of Tuesday was rescued by a team of policemen from the state's Special Anti-Robbery Squad few hours after her abduction.
The police command spokeswoman, Mrs Celestina Kalu, a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) who disclosed this in a statement, said that middle-aged Mrs Roseline Okolie was abducted from her home at Obiaruku, a neighboring town of Abraka at about 3:30 am on Tuesday.
According to Kalu, an armed gang reportedly invaded the home of the Okolie's at Obiaruku, carted away several valuables and cash before whisking away the helpless woman.
