Professor Akinola Passes on
The Akinola family has announced the death of their scion, Professor Richard Adebayo Akinola. The family said though they were comforted by the legacy he left behind, they were pained by his exit as it left a void too difficult to fill.
"With gratitude to The Almighty for a very well accomplished life, we regret to announce the passing of our father, Prof Richard Adebayo Akinola on Tuesday, 3rd March, 2015 at the age of 87.
Our late father was an erudite scholar, academician, geography professor and successful university administrator. He was at various times, Dean of Faculty of Arts, University of Lagos and the pioneer Pro-Chancellor of the Ado Bayero University, Kano.
The late Professor Akinola was a president Rotary club of Lagos 1977-1978 and the founder of the prestigious Oluyole Club Ibadan,was also a development icon and the Bashorun Tayese of Ibadanland".
Burial arrangements will be announced later by the family"...
