‘A Bad Image for Nigeria, Says Varsity Don
A professor of law at the University of Ilorin and immediate past chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of the institution, Wahab Egbewole, at the weekend said the postponement of the elections till March 28 on the grounds of insecurity was a bad image for the nation’s political development.
He said the nation’s security agencies, which could not solve the problem of insecurity in the North-eastern part of Nigeria for about three years now wants Nigerians to believe they can solve it within six weeks.
The university don however warned that the dates should not be shifted again after the six weeks, because of its grave consequences, so that Nigerians would not be pushed to the wall.
Wabara Backs INEC, Says I Don't Have My PVC
Former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, said yesterday that he was fully in support if the shift in the 2015 general election as announced by INEC.
Wabara said his constituents in Ukwa-east and West Local Governments of Abia State have been denied their PVCs, adding that all efforts to secure the cards from the local government offices of INEC have proved futile.
Wabara insisted that it would have amounted to great injustice for INEC to proceed with the election as planned on February 14, adding that the people of his two local governments cannot just fold their arms and get disenfranchised. Wabara decried the non-availability of PVCs in the South-east, saying that he had personally visited the local government INEC office on several occasions without success
