Katsina to offset exam fees with N822m
About 822 million naira is to be expended by the Katsina State government in payment of examination fees of its students this year, Commissioner of Education Professor Aminu Kado Kurfi has said.
Speaking with Daily Trust on phone, Kurfi said the amount will be used to pay for the SSCE, NECO, NABTEB examinations with about 40,000 students expected to benefit from the gesture.
Kurfi said government was committed to ensuring that its students take part in the examinations to secure placements in various institutes of learning.
Meanwhile, a total of 3,235 laptop computers have been distributed to principals, vice principals, zonal education directors and the three tertiary institutions in the state.
According to the commissioner, the gesture was informed by the administration’s readiness to enhance e-learning across the state.
He also announced collaboration with Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, to sustain ICT and the business school in the state.
