Rep constructs N10.6m classrooms in public schools


A House of Representatives Member from Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, Suleiman Yahaya Kwande, has commissioned three blocks of classrooms that he constructed in each of the four public schools in his constituency yesterday.

The projects, which include the construction of three blocks of classrooms in each of the schools, and the renovation of old classes in two benefiting schools in Jos North LGA and two other schools in Bassa LGA, at the cost N10. 6m.
Speaking at Rikkos Community Primary and Secondary School Jos, Kwande said that no amount of resources invested in education is enough as education is the foundation that can liberate the people from darkness, ignorance, illiteracy, poverty and will act as a catalyst for meaningful development of the society.
Kwande added, “My priority as a representative of the people is to ensure a brighter future for my constituents, and to achieve that I must support the youth in the area of education, as well as decongest the learning environment and provide other facilities so as to achieve the desired goal.”
He appealed to governments at all levels, groups and individuals to give the necessary priority and support to the development of education in the country, adding, “Education is the solution to numerous problems confronting our country today.”
Kwande said, “We have supported many of our young men and women through provision of scholarship, we empowered hundreds of our youth, women and orphans with different skills and in various trades. We have also donated working tools and tricycles to the teeming constituents all in efforts to alleviate poverty in the community.”
In his response at the event, ward head of Rikkos, Aliyu Gambo, appreciated the gesture and said that this was the first time the community has benefited directly from the dividends of democracy.
