Know your caregivers, head teacher tells parents

The head teacher, Ronik International School, Ejigbo, Lagos, Mrs. Olusola Ogunniran, has advised parents and guardians to scrutinise individuals they entrust their children with after school hours.

Ogunniran made this remark during the 23rd graduation ceremony of the school.

She said, “It is important to work and make money for the family. But it more important to ensure that our children are safe at all times even when we are not around. Parents should exploit the use of technology in monitoring what these caregivers do when they are not around.”

She added that many children stood the risk of being abused by their caregivers.

Also, the chairman of the occasion and Head, Corporate Services, Altech West Africa Limited, Alhaji Ogunbiyi Jelili, said the training of a child was a “covenant responsibility” that must never be negotiated or jettisoned by both parents and guardian.

The Deputy Managing Director and Principal Ronik Comprehensive School, Mrs. Mogbonjubola Ejirinde, counseled the graduating pupils to endeavour to remain focused in life.
