The Lagos State Government is to sponsor the training of no fewer than 15 Mathematics teachers.
The training, according to a statement
from the state Ministry of Education, is to hold at the National
Mathematical Centre, Abuja, between August 10 and 16.
The Public Relations Officer in the ministry, Mr. Jide Lawal, signed the statement obtained by our correspondent on Thursday.
The statement added that the state
Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye, urged the teachers
to exploit the opportunity and come up with fresh creative methods of
teaching the subjects to pupils.
According to her, this will help improve the performance of the pupils in the subject.
“I want to implore you to come up with
new ways and teaching materials of Mathematics so that you as teachers
can make the subject enjoyable, interesting and better for the pupils so
that we can see in the results in improved performance in the subject
in WAEC,” she said.
