Olopade, others for UI summit

Leading academics, including a professor of Medicine and Clinical Director, Centre for Global Health, University of Chicago, United States, Sola Olopade, will converge on the University of Ibadan, Oyo State next week for this year’s Ibadan Sustainable Development Summit.

The UI Centre for Sustainable Development, in collaboration with African Sustainable Development Network and Nigeria Sustainable Development Solution Network, is organising the event. The summit holds between August 25 and August 30.

The Director of UI Centre for Sustainable Development, Prof. Labode Popoola, confirmed this to our correspondent on Monday.

Popoola noted that while Olopade would deliver the keynote address, 10 other scholars would also speak at the five-day summit.

Popoola added, “As you are aware, the centre organises this summit to address the decay in governance and lack of preparedness to shoulders responsibilities by African leaders. Contributions in form of scholarly papers, posters presentation and exhibitions are invited from researchers, development practitioners, policy-makers, technocrats, students and all stakeholders.”
