Police promote 1,945 teachers, plan French education tour


The Directorate of Police Education, has promoted 1, 945 teachers of its secondary and primary school teachers nationwide.

Those involved include 25 teachers now promoted to directors and 1,920 in others, who passed the promotional examination conducted by the Federal Civil Service Commission.

Presenting the letters of promotion to the directors in Abuja, the Director, Police Education, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Kabir Ibrahim, noted that no fewer than 2,000 teachers sat for the promotion examination.

Ibrahim, who urged the beneficiaries to work harder, added that their elevation was part of the efforts of the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, to improve the welfare of teachers.

He said, “With this promotion, I expect you (beneficiaries) to go back and transform the schools. Already we are doing well, but I want you to do more.

“The IG has pledged to ensure better working conditions and welfare of the teachers and policemen and he will do it because he is a man of his words.”

Ibrahim said the IG had approved an education tour for 35 teachers to visit Togo for a two-week French programme to enhance their teaching of French Language in schools.

According to him, other approvals by the IG include release of 2014 admission to all police secondary schools,as well as the take-off other schools in Gusau, Zamfara State and Isu-Nwangele in Imo State by October.

The DCP further added that the directorate would establish more primary and secondary schools in the country, starting with a primary school in Dei-Dei, Abuja.

One of the promoted directors, Olubunmi Ogunleye, who hailed the exercise, said it would propel them to work harder.

He added, “We thank the IG and the director, DCP Ibrahim, for making this promotion a reality.”
