Winners emerge in Olashore School’s competition


Barkley Science Magnet School, Ogudu, Lagos has emerged the overall best school in this year’s Inter-Primary School Challenge for schools in Lagos State.

For emerging the best, the school received a plaque, a certificate of participation, while its participating pupils took home sundry prizes.

The competition, in its second edition, is organised by Olashore International School, Iloko-Ijesa, Osun State.

It involves pupils competing in science, mathematics, verbal reasoning, cross word puzzle and scrabble.

According to the Principal of Olashore International School, Iloko- Ijesa, Mr. Derek Smith, the initiative is to promote the skills development of the Nigerian child.

The challenge, he added, helps in expanding pupils’ critical thinking and providing an opportunity for them to compete with their counterparts from other schools.

Smith said, “At Olashore, we believe that children’s ability to apply knowledge gained in the classroom to a range of challenges is one of the things that allows our graduates to be successful and as such we are here to encourage children in primary schools to begin to develop these skills early.”

He also assured of the continued sponsorship of the competition in line with the school founding father’s commitment to promoting excellent education in the country.

Meanwhile, the Royal Family Academy has emerged the winning school in Abuja, while the Vine International School emerged as winning institution in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

In Ibadan, Oyo State, Mary Hill Convent School emerged as the winner, while Bluecrest Nursery and Primary School took the crown among schools in Osun State.
