20 schools get digital libraries in Ibadan

Managing Director of Interworld Management and Services Limited, Mrs. Omotola Morgan, said secondary schools in Nigeria must encourage the culture of digital books among the pupils because of its vast advantage in learning process.

Morgan, who spoke to our correspondent during the presentation of World Book Digital Products to selected secondary schools at Vale College, Iyaganku, Ibadan, on Wednesday, said that simplicity of the language used to present the on-line materials and credibility of those who consulted for the producers made the concept acceptable to learning.

She said, “We presented World Book Online to school owners and their representatives. Interworld is the sole representatives of World Book International in Nigeria and Ghana. It has moved on to digital product and now one of the world’s leading providers of digital products for secondary schools, universities and home libraries and so on.

“The core benefit is that it brightens the mind of the pupils because the books are written in simplest form of language. The late Prof. Ade Ajayi, was one of the consultants to World Book and there are more than 3000 respectable experts who work for the outfit.”

Twenty schools were involved in the exercise and according to Morgan, the package offered the pupils were comprehensible and interesting. She said she had represented World Book for 20 years, organising exhibition and taking part in trade fairs. Oyo State Government and many other private schools have already subscribed to the online library initiative
