AIFF nominates ABU, Malafia, Saaid, others for awards
AIFF nominatesAhmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, Jubril Malafia and Danjuma Dj Saaid are among those nominated for various awards at the upcoming Abuja International Film Festival (AIFF).
ABU received two nominations for ‘Best Student Film’ for the productions ‘When is tomorrow’ and ‘Tales by Sunset,’ while Malafia’s ‘The Throne’ was nominated in the Best Experimental Film category. And Saaid’s ‘Blood and Romance’ was nominated as one of Nigeria’s Best Feature Film and in the Best Directing category.
Three Chinese films were nominated in the Best Feature Film (Foreign) category as Lancelot Imaseun’s ‘Invasion 1897’ received three nods for Best Feature Film, Best Directing, Outsanding male Actor and Outstanding Music.
The fiesta, which is the 11th edition of the series, is scheduled to hold from September 23 to 26 at the Silverbird Cinemas, Abuja.
Now under the leadership of actor, Fred Amata, pioneer boss of the festival, Fidelis Duker had described Amata as, “one of the most creative people you can find in Nollywood today and with his vast experience in film and TV, he will be of immense value to the Festival.”
Categories for this year’s competition include Best Feature Film (Nigeria), Best Feature Film (Foreign), Best Short Film (Nigeria), Best Documentary, Best Experimental Film, The Outstanding Comic Film, Outstanding Male Actor, Outstanding Female Actor, Best Directing, Best Student Film and Outstanding Music.
