Educationist wants leadership training for administrators
The proprietress, Dartforte International School, Ahmadiyah Lagos, Princess Titilade Ijiwole, has called for the exposure of educators to quality leadership training.
According to Ijiwole, such an exposure will equip them to manage the human and material resources in their care in schools.
She spoke at a leadership training conference she attended at the Cambridge University, London.
In a statement obtained by our correspondent on Friday, Ijiwole noted that the mismanagement of schools were because of inadequate exposure of their administrators to leadership training.
She stated that participants at the conference agreed that leadership training enhanced the performance of teachers and administrators.
She said that the programme organised by the university was for educators and educational administrators all over the world.
About 600 participants, according to her attended this year’s conference.
Calling for training for all education stakeholders, she added, “We want quality leadership in this country but we are not prepared to spend on training.
“This is the reason we have bad leaders all over the place. We need to expose our educationists and politicians to quality leadership training so that they can perform better.”
