FG and private school owners

It gave much pains to read a story in your sister publication, SATURDAY PUNCH, on August 30, that private school owners are primed for a confrontation with the Federal Government over the suspension of schools in view of the Ebola outbreak in the country.

One, it is unethical for private school owners to think of talking about confrontation, not even challenging the Federal Government on issues that have to do with the health of our young children and wards, especially as they don’t consider the money, time and energies already put in place by the Federal Government’s proactive measures with the Lagos State Government. Nevertheless, this is democracy in action where anything goes.
There is freedom of speech. Every genuine stakeholder in education knows that the decision of the Federal Government is germane in this circumstance and situation, instead of personal aggrandisement and egocentricism. To be sincere, if doctors and medical personnel, with medical awareness could still contact the EVD, then only the Almighty God can detect the rate of contracting this deadly disease by the minors, if such a measure is not taken.
We should put national interest above our parochial and self interest. Accumulation of wealth to the detriment of Nigerians is the bane of patriotism and nationalism. The EVD is serious and deadly. God bless Nigeria and our democracy
