The news that schools are now to resume on September 22 has come to me as a surprise. I have been impressed with the way the government had handled the issue of Ebola thus far. But this hasty decision does not bode well for the country.
It looks like our strategists want to sacrifice the lives of our children because certain private schools’ proprietors are putting pressure on the government to open schools. Smaller countries like Sierra Leone and Liberia have instituted lock downs in public institutions. Why is ours different? What is wrong with us?
