May & Baker presents sickbays to schools
A pharmaceutical firm, May & Baker Nigeria Plc, says it is committed to supporting the training of well-rounded pupils in the country.
Its Managing Director, Mr. Nnamdi Okafor, stated this in Lagos while handing over a sickbay the company built for the Central primary School, Ikeja.
According to him, apart from producing quality medicines for Nigerians, the company is also committed to supporting the education of the Nigerian child and the society.
He said, “We are making this donation of sickbays today as part of our 70th anniversary. Over these seven decades, we have led the development of the Nigerian pharmaceutical industry with quality medicines that have saved the lives of many Nigerians. We have a commitment to save lives, and for us, a starting point are the lives of children who constitute the future of the country.
“Therefore, we are deeply concerned with the rounded well being of our people and the sustainable development of our community. In the past, we had supported various people-oriented health projects. Today, we are supporting the health needs of our children in public schools through this initiative.”
Okafor, who urged the school authorities to manage the sickbay well, advised them to use the facilities to provide emergency and primary healthcare to the pupils.
The Chairman, Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area, Mr. Babatunde Oke, who described the company’s gesture as laudable, urged other corporate organisations to contribute to the funding of education in the country.
He promised to provide the supporting members of staff that would work in the facility.
Other schools that benefited from the company’s gesture are the United African Methodist Primary School, Eleja; and St. Agnes Primary School, Sabo-Yaba.
