Secondary school principals, health masters sensitised on Ebola


Principals, Vice Principals and Health Masters of FCT secondary schools were on Monday sensitised on the prevention of Ebola virus disease ahead of the schools resumption. FCT Secondary Education Board conducted the sensitisation workshop in collaboration with the FCT Department of Science and Technology in Government Science Technical College, Garki, Abuja.

President, FCT Secondary Education Board, Dr Moroof Akinwande, in his remarks at the event, said since the outbreak of Ebola, there is need for participants to know how to identify and treat the disease before schools resumption.
He said the train the trainers workshop is for participants from over 60 secondary schools in the FCT to be aware of the deadly virus.

FCT Director, Science and Technology Department, Mrs. Rosemary E. Umana, in her remarks, said the federal government has requested for a list of names of two teachers from each school in the FCT in order to enhance the use of equipment to be sent to the schools to check Ebola outbreak.
Mohammed Sani Ladan, Chairman, All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), FCT Chapter, described the Ebola outbreak as a national tragedy, hence the need for the workshop
