Abaji school wins inter-primary school essay competition
The Abaji East Local Education Authority (LEA) Primary School, last week, emerged first at the final inter-primary schools’ essay competition organised by the FCT Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB).
The competition, with the topics, ‘Why I want to be a teacher’, ‘Health is wealth’ and ‘Girl-child education is important’, was held at Government Secondary School (GSS) Area 10, Garki, Abuja.
The Chairman, FCT Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB), Alhaji Umar BarauNingi, said the board organised the competition for all primary school pupils in the territory to improve their aptitude and language skills.
He said the competition would also encourage and boost the morale of primary school pupils to have confidence in participating in any external competition.
He commended the pupils and the local education board in the area for emerging first and second over-all winners in FCT during the competition, while urging other schools to put more effort to succeed in future competitions.
In his remarks, the Abaji LEA Secretary, Alhaji Alhassan Suleiman, said he was elated by the performance of pupils of the school who came first at the final essay competition.
According to him, Abaji LEA was determined to give every child the opportunity to explore their hidden potentials and become a reference point.
He also commended the FCT UBEB for organising the competition.
