FCT school administrators, teachers begin one year training programme
Felicity International Centre for Education Excellence in collaboration with the FCT Universal Education Board (UBEB) has kicked start a year training programme for school administrators and teachers in the territory.
At the opening ceremony of the event yesterday, FCT UBEB Chairman, Alhaji Umar Barau Ningi, noted that education is dynamic and there is need for critical stakeholders like school administrators and teachers to constantly undergo training that will boost their performance to meet international best standard.
Represented by the board’s Permanent Secretary 1, Benjamin Ogbara, the board chairman said as agency of government charged with the responsibility of providing basic education, the board will not relent in its effort in collaborating with other stakeholders in education sector to do the needful.
The chairman, who thanked the trainer for the collaboration, hoped that the participants will benefit tremendously from the programme.
Also speaking, the Chief Executive Officer of the centre involved in the training, Mr. Method Odeneme, said the programme seeks to train school administrators on the aspects of leadership and to provide needed requisite knowledge on the teaching of Mathematics, Sciences and in reading and writing.
He stressed the need for the participants to strive to be computer literacy, reminding them that the skill will enable them to work effectively.
Mr. Odeneme said his centre will visit the participants’ schools to monitor how they have been putting to use what they learned from the training for a year.
Head of Primary Schools Services, FCT UBEB, Mrs Catherine Eziello, urged the participants to pay attention to the training and advised teachers to stop looking down on their profession.
