Two beneficiaries of the 2014 Pepsi Football Academy (PFA) UK Scholarship scheme, Onuh Morgan Daniel and Agunnubi Abayomi Dada, have left Nigeria for the Brooke House College in United Kingdom on a two-year study and training scholarship sponsored by Pepsi.
According to the sponsor, the trip is in fulfillment of its pledge to ensure that young football talents in Nigeria continue to achieve their dreams to play at the world stage.
Technical Officer of PFA, Mr. Adewale Laloko, who spoke at the farewell ceremony, charged the youngsters to adhere to the academy’s moral values and be true ambassadors of Pepsi and Nigeria.
“You must obey instructions and attend trainings,” Laloko said, adding, “You must also remember that focus and hard work are the main ingredients for success.”
Head Consultant, Metro Media Communications, Lagos public relations firm for Seven Up Bottling Company plc, Mr. Mike Nzeagwu, said Pepsi in conjunction with the PFA was among the biggest supporters of grassroots football in Nigeria with over 3, 000 youngsters training in 14 centers across the country.
“You must maintain the tradition of excellence for which the Academy is noted in the past 22 years,” Nzeagwu counseled.
One of the PFA scholars, Daniel, thanked Pepsi for keeping its promise, while Dada urged other youngsters to be steadfast in the pursuit of their dreams. Established in 2005, the PFA UK scholarship has produced over 15 players, including Chigozie Mba who won the scholarship last year.
