NDE recruits 50 youths in Niger
The National Directorate of Employment (NDE)in Niger state has recruited 50 unemployed youths for training under the state government’s Environmental Beautification Training Scheme (EBTS) in an attempt to check youths unemployment.
The beneficiaries of the training scheme were drawn from the three senatorial districts of Niger state and are to be trained in hard and soft landscaping, production of interlock, Plaster of Paris (POP) amongst others.
The state coordinator of NDE, Abdullahi Mohammed stated this at the opening ceremony of a two-day orientation course for the trainees which took place in Minna, the state capital.
The aim of the EBTS is to equip the beneficiaries with the knowledge and skills needed to launch them not only into self-employment but to support state government in its environmental beautification of Minna, and other towns.
Mohammed told the beneficiaries that the training was in line with governments’ efforts at increasing the number of employers of labour in the country and that it would provide the opportunity for the beneficiaries to become job creators instead of job seekers in no distant future.
While congratulating the beneficiaries for being part of the success story, equipping future leaders with skills, the NDE coordinator challenged them to put what they have learnt into judicious use to harness wealth for themselves and their dependants.
The trainees are to be attached to master trainers for the practical training to last for three months, he said, adding however that, while the trainees will be paid stipends per month the master trainers will be remunerated based on the number of trainees attached to each of them.
Mohammed who urged beneficiaries of the training to count themselves lucky to be among the few selected from the lot that indicated interest in undergoing the training also said he expected the trainees to make the best use of the opportunity therein to become employers of labour.
