How exercise affects your body
In my
opinion, it would be easier to get off your couch to exercise if you
know and understand how exercise affects your body. A lot of things
happen to your body when you exercise. Generally, your body is affected
directly or indirectly when you exercise.
The human body is a complex machine; it
functions according to the quality of care and maintenance you give to
it. Here is a brief explanation on how exercise affects different parts
of the body…
Muscles: The muscular
system is responsible for the movement of the body. When you exercise,
your heart pumps more blood to your muscles, which helps them to
contract, thus enabling your body to move smartly and more
appropriately.
Heart: As I have always
mentioned in my recent posts, the heart rate increases with physical
activities, especially when the activity is intense. The fitter you are,
the more efficiently your heart can serve you, allowing you to work out
longer and harder.Lungs: The lungs benefit more from
exercise, as your muscles call for more oxygen (as much as 15 times when
you are at rest), and your breathing rate increases. However, when you
exercise, your lungs are being made to perform these tasks. During this
process is when the lungs are being worked on and maintained.
Brain: In yesterday’s
post, I did mention that cardiovascular exercise floods the brain with
chemicals that enhance its functions. During exercise, the increased
blood flow is also very beneficial to the brain. It makes it to almost
start functioning better immediately. That’s why after exercise, people
tend to feel more focused than ever.
