Three parties in alliance against Amosun
Ahead of the April 11 governorship and state House of Assembly elections, three political parties in Ogun State, namely the Progressive Peoples Alliance, Democratic Peoples Party and the Independent Democrats have formed an alliance to unseat Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
Addressing journalists in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Wednesday, the state chairman, Conference of Nigeria Political Parties, Otunba Owolabi Odebudo, said the three political parties had resolved to ensure that the ruling APC was not allowed to manipulate the election.
He said they had all resolved to vote for the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Akin Odunsi, in the election holding on Saturday
He said, “The change that produced the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, should also be replicated in Ogun State.
“The SDP is the most viable party in the state hence the alliance.”
Odebudo said the state could not survive another four years of APC government, describing Odunsi as a man of integrity that would move the state forward.
“All the parties in this deal held due consultations with their supporters and members before arriving at this decision. The idea is that we will watch one another’s back at the polls to ensure we are not short-changed by the ruling party,” he added.
