Lagos introduces screening test to curb mass failure
IN an effort to curb the continued dismal performance of candidates in Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSCE), the Lagos State government has introduced a screening test for all SSS III students.
The state Commissioner for Education, Mrs Olayinka Oladunjoye, disclosed this on Wednesday, at a stakeholders’ meeting involving principals, parents, SSS III teachers and students.
According to her, a pass (50 per cent) will be the minimum requirement from every student before he or she will qualify for both the mock and WAEC examinations.
Other conditions given for qualification for the examination include: 90 per cent attendance in schools, as well as 50 per cent attendance of the student’s parent at the Parents’ Forum.
