Imperial College alumni pledges support for Science, Technology education


IN a bid to assist the furtherance of education in Nigeria, the Imperial College Alumni Association of Nigeria has urged the Nigerian graduates of Imperial College, London and the general Nigerian public to be acquainted with the plans and programmes of the association.

This was disclosed by the President of the association, Mr. Olugbenga Adelana, during a press conference held at Victoria Island, Lagos.

According to him, part of the objectives set out by the association is to enlighten the general public about Imperial College and promote links between Imperial College and Nigerian institutions with similar objectives into solving the issues of teaching, research and knowledge transfer which have been challenging Nigeria institutions.

Chairman, Board of Trustees of the association, Sir Edet Amana in the course of his address noted that the Imperial College has moved up the ranking table to be the second overall best university in the world. He said also that, “there are competent Nigerian graduates of Imperial College that can help Nigerian institutions in the areas of science and technology.

Mr. Adelana said that according to the approved plans and programmes of the association, the MEET N GREET event which will be held at Conference Hall of the African Heritage Foundation Ikoyi, Lagos will be aimed at welcoming new members as well as promoting interaction between them and regular members of the association. Time and address of the event will be communicated to the members via the website www.icaanigeria.org.

This will be followed by the Annual Alumni Dinner and Award night which will be held on 3rd or 4th of December, 2014.

The Quarterly Alumni Barbeque/Tent Meeting will be in held  in March, 2015, which will be followed by the Annual General Meeting to be held in the first week of April of every year. In providing a forum for discussing and proffering solutions to the problems of Nigeria, most especially in the area of core competency, academic specialists and research.
