Kano Schools Directed to Resume on Monday
Kano State government has directed all public and private schools to reopen the schools on Monday, while measures were put in place by the government to set up a committee to monitor all schools resumption to ensure total compliance.
The state Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Tajuddeen Gambo said “ I am appealing to the parents to send their wards to school on Monday 22 and also to ensure their children’s wash their hands on a daily basis to avoid contraction of any disease not necessary Ebola”.
Addressing reporters in Kano yesterday in his office, the commissioner explained that heads of all schools were given phone numbers of the committee members to contact them whenever the need arose.
He said the trained staff were to ensure that any child with any symptom of sickness was treated accordingly.
“State government had trained at least three staff from all the schools in case of any emergency. We also provide all schools with liquid soap in order to ensure that all students wash their hands.
“Schools are ready to resume on September 22 as proposed by the Federal Government and we call on school managers to ensure daily practical demonstration of hand washing by the pupils, students and teachers”, the commissioner added.
Gambo added that the ministry has instructed ball schools managements to organize a special prayers session where the whole Quran will be recited for a peaceful and healthy environment, while all the measures were also put in place across the state.
