We‘ll take position on schools’ resumption after Sallah – NUT
The leadership of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, has said that the body would soon take a position as regards when it would be appropriate for students in the public primary and secondary schools nationwide to resume for academic activities.
President of the union, Mr. Michael Olukoga told National Mirror yesterday that the union was satisfied so far with the level of compliance of various state governments in providing items that would make their schools safe for resumption.
It will be recalled that the teachers’ union had been at loggerheads with the government over when it should be considered safe and appropriate for schools’ to resume following the outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease in the country in July.
“So, our plan is to hold a National Executive Council,NEC, meeting of the union after the Sallah break next week where will review the current situation across the states and then come up with a position about the resumption. But as it were, I can say that the states have complied to make the schools safe,” he said
