NOA prepares pupils on security

The National Orientation Agency has organised a security awareness workshop for pupils of public and private secondary schools in Calabar, Cross River State.

The state Coordinator of the agency, Ms Florence Osang, said that the workshop was to create security consciousness in pupils.

Pupils from public and private schools attended the workshop titled “Security awareness campaign in schools.

Osang said the workshop was for the pupils because many of them were ignorant of safety security tips.

She said, “It is important to inculcate security tips into the lives of our children; they need it most. Parents should be mindful of the friends their children keep; they should monitor them closely and make sure they are properly guided.’’

The Deputy Comptroller of Immigration in the state, Mr. Mohammed Alhassan, who chaired the ceremony, said there was the need to educate pupils on safety security measures.

He appealed to members of the public to avail security agencies with useful information in order to curb terrorism in the country.

The Commissioner of Police in Cross River, Titilayo Busari, who presented a paper titled “the concept of security’’, urged the public to support security agencies in the fight against terrorism.
