The Director General of the corps, Brig-Gen. Johnson Olawunmi, disclosed this at the weekend in Akure, Ondo State, during the inauguration of the NYSC-government collaboration on environmental sanitation.
He said the move would be necessary to fight against the spread of the dreaded disease in the camps.
Olawunmi said the corps had taken measures to ensure safety of the corps members and staff of the organisation during the orientation camps programme.
He explained that at the recently concluded orientation camp, the NYSC was involved in many preventive measures with hand sanitisers provided in the camps where the orientation programmes were held.
Olawumi also said the organisation had ensured that its clinics in the camps were stocked with drugs and medical staff on ground to provide the needed services.
Speaking on the sanitation programme, he said it was part of the move to achieve his vision for the NYSC scheme which is "to increase the impact of the scheme and expand its value to critical stakeholders."
The director general said the programme would enable corps members to render selfless services by helping to maintain a safe and sustainable environment in the country.
The Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, said the collaboration of the organisation with the state governments would further enhance a healthy society.
The governor, who spoke through his Chief of Staff (COS), Dr. Kola Ademujimi, noted that the state government had been at the vanguard of the campaign for a clean and safe environment for people to live.
The Commissioner for Environment in the state, Chief Sola Ebiseni, urged the NYSC to increase the participation of the corps members in environmental issues in the state.
