About seven years after its foundation,
10 programmes run by the Tansian University, Umunya, Oyi Local
Government Area of Anambra State have been accredited by the National
University Commission (NUC).
Disclosing this to newsmen during the
occasion to declare open the university’s admission, the Chancellor
and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University.
Professor Monsignor John Bosco Akam pointed out that the university took off with two approved faculties and got all its submitted programmes accredited by NUC.
Professor Monsignor Akam Professor Monsignor Akam said that the school authorities ensure that JAMB regulations are followed and each prospective candidate must score at least 180 cut off mark to get admission.
He noted that the institution would next week launch its portal stated the ICT centre of the institution provides a 24 – hour service and is powered by solar.
The chancellor said the institution is following a very rigorous academic pursuit and has a world-class system of access to admission from all parts of the country and beyond, stressing that the institution is already making giant strides.
He
revealed that by next week, the institution will unveil the
university’s portal, noting that the institution was named after an
Aguleri-born-Rev. Fr. Cyprian Iwene Tansi and took off at the ground at
Oba, Nnewi South Local Government Area of the State where the Pope John

According to him, the vision is to make the institution a Havard or Oxford of Africa, adding that the permanent site of the university is at Umunya where he said infrastructural facilities and security network are springing up in about 200 hectares of land and hopes to meet the future needs of the institution saying that the institution will become a world-class university in the making.
Professor Monsignor Akam who credited the building of the podium to Canadian Dan W. Hill as well as some other structures to the late F. HeckBerger said Tansian University is an all-inclusive institution that does not discriminate on any ground of nationality, sex, religion or tribe as long the candidate is law-abiding.
He also said that the Tansian University is the cheapest institution in the country.
