Kaduna
State University (KASU) will commence Post Graduates Diploma (PGD) and
Masters Degree (Msc) Programmes in the 2014/ 2015 academic year, Vice
Chancellor of the institution, Professor Barnabas Williams Quirix said
yesterday.
Quirix told Daily Trust that the
commencement of the Post Graduate Programmes followed inspection and
subsequent approval by the National University Commission (NUC).
“Ten years after the establishment of this university we are pleased to let you know that NUC has approved 44 out of the 52 courses that we apply for Post Graduate Programmes,” the Vice Chancellor said.
Quirix said they are commencing lectures in the 2014/2015 academic year with: MSc Environmental Biology, MSc in Renewable Energy, MSc in Geographic Information System, PGD in Investigative, and on Sport Journalism, MSc in Procurement Supply in Management, MSc in Criminal Justice, Crime Management and Security Studies.
The vice chancellor also disclosed that as part of their research interest, they are embarking on a research on ginger adding, “Ginger is a natural resource and we are embarking on an extensive research of the product. Some people are coming into our university for sabbatical for this purpose.”
Quirix thanked the Kaduna State government for its support that led to the approval of the Post Graduate Programmes adding, “We will run both academic and non academic programmes.”
