Art school promises better days for painting

Illuminators Academy is set to teach pupils and individuals the art and business of special effects painting. This development, according to the academy, will change the mindset that painting and artwork is for dropouts and the uneducated.

The academy, a subsidiary of Illuminators Millennium Concept Nigeria, has a bias for special effect painting and wallpaper art school.

The founder of the academy, Mr. Debo Atiba, who spoke on the fresh initiative in Lagos, said the school would raise the standard and quality of art and painting in the country.

He said, “Over the years, we have seen beautiful structures being deprived of perfect finishing and aesthetics by painters who know little or nothing about special effects painting, design painting and wall paper setting. In fact, this field has too many of some individuals that it has brought about a perception that painting is for dropouts and the uneducated.’’

He added that the rudiments of business training needed to succeed in the profession would be taught to the pupils during a six-week class at Magodo, Lagos, in September.

“Students will learn the art of interior finishing and learn how to transform this art into viable business ventures through our comprehensive courses that cuts across business planning and management, business etiquette, brand identity development and customer relations,” he added.

According to the academy’s Brand Manager, Ms. Ngozi Ilondu, the teaching will be participatory for the pupils. She added, “It is a hands-on training: students will learn the theoretical and practical aspect of special effects painting and wall paper setting. In addition to this, they would get start up kits to help them start their own business after training.
