NSUK V-C wants North to honour Danjuma, Dangote

The Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University Keffi (NSUK) Professor Muhammad Akaro Mainoma has called on Northern state governments and leaders to honour General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma and the Chairman of Dangote Group of Companies, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, for their philanthropy and contributions to national development.

Mainoma, in a statement made available to our reporter, said Danjuma and Dangote have touched the lives of Nigerians in ways which no known Northerner has done in the more than 50 years history of the country.
The statement said that apart from creating job opportunities, saving the lives of many Nigerians, the philanthropists have brought economic stability in many homes and reduced peoples’ dependence on governments.
The statement read in part: “The amount of monies these philanthropists have been sinking in developing other sectors such as education is unprecedented and, therefore, deserve to be honoured so that other business men and women in North and other regions would emulate their exemplary sacrifice and serene patriotism.”
It said the North has reasons to be proud of these great business men, calling on politicians and educated elites in the region to come together to salvage the region, especially now that it faced unprecedented security, political and economic challenges capable of ruining the country.
The statement regretted that intellectuals who are supposed to be in the forefront of the struggle to emancipate the country and its citizenry from the clutches of injustice, oppression and inhumanity were being manipulated by forces of darkness to unleash terror on innocent Nigerians.
