FCE Gusau matriculates 1,361 students


THE Federal College of Education(Technical), Gusau, Zamfara State, has performed the matriculation of 1,361 students admitted into the college for the 2013/2014 academic session.

Admitting the students into its fold at the school convocation ground on Saturday, the college provost, Dr Barakat Abubakar, noted that the number of those admitted in the college had increased more than the previous year.
“Last year,only 450 students were matriculated due to UTME deficiency, but today we are matriculating 1,361 students.

While congratulating the new students, she said the institution is the only female technical college in West Africa.

‘You are here, the opportunity for being secured and free from many distractions as it is obtainable in co-education set up in other tertiary institutions.

She charged the matriculating students not to hesitate to bring any case of sexual harrassment forward, saying that, ‘we have set up a committee for that purpose’.

The college provost also remarked that other committees like the dress code,examination malpractices had been set up to serve certain purposes.

‘We operate an open door policy and you should feel free to approach the management on any issue that bothers you, she said.
