300 youths get computer training in Enugu
THREE hundred youth from Enugu West senatorial zone of Enugu State recently graduated from a six-month computer training programme organized by friends of Governor Sullivan Chime.
Five of the graduands, one each from the five local governments within the zone including; Udi, Awgu, Oji River, Aninri and Ezeagu, who came tops in the training programme, received laptop computers.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony at Udi local government area headquarters, the main sponsor of the programme, Dennis Amadi stated that the second batch of the youth trainees from Enugu East senatorial zone will equally graduate in a week’s time while the training programme for youths from Enugu North (Nsukka) senatorial zone would commence after.
Amadi, a professional banker and an indigene of Udi local government area, said he and his partners were motivated to embark on the project in appreciation of the development agenda and support of laudable programmes of the State government.
He explained that as a member of the board of a number of companies doing business in the state, the gesture is also part of their corporate social responsibilities and in line with the Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiative of the government.
“We need to round off the training programme we organized for the youths in Enugu West senatorial zone on behalf of the Governor, Sullivan Chime. Our motivation is to support the good work the governor has done for the state and many infrastructures that will attract investment; that will attract professionals to the state. We intend to prepare our people for the challenges ahead, to be able to cope with the benefits of this development.
“The modern world is beyond he who is created with natural eyes and ears; part of the features of the 21st century man or woman is the ability to live in electronics world. And irrespective of your field of study or certificate you may hold in hand, your ability to operate computer and be able to access information is the next degree of knowledge that differentiate you from others,” he said.
