Amosun must double subvention of tertiary institutions — NASU
ABEOKUTA—NON Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, NASU has urged the State government to increase the subvention of tertiary institutions in the state from its present 20 per cent to 100 per cent.
The union expressed fear that the recent reduction of schools fees by the state government might worsen the situation of the funding of the state-owned tertiary institutions.
The General-Secretary of the union, Adeniyi Adeyemi stated this yesterday, during a visit to Governor Ibikunle Amosun at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Adeyemi, while speaking with newsmen, said the union was in Abeokuta to show appreciation to the state government for offsetting the outstanding allowances of his members owed by the previous administration.
He said “We want government to try and subvent these institutions 100 per cent. “Even the idea of subvention by 20 per cent may also add some problem, now that government is even reducing the fees of the tertiary institutions.
we acknowledge the fact that the government is providing more employment for unemployed youths, we think it can still do more.
”We want the right of our members to be enhanced, addressed and I hope we will have no reason to fight the state government.
