Kadpoly students warned against indecent dressing

A lecturer at the Department of Education Technology of the Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna, Hajiya Zinatu Saleh, has warned newly admitted students against indecent dressing.

According to her, inappropriate dressing could lead to sexual harassment of students on campus.
Zinatu Saleh, made the plea, recently, in a paper she presented during the National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) matriculation ceremony for 2012/2013 academic session.
Zinatu stated that seductive dressing has profound negative effect on both the students and lecturers alike as they can hardly concentrate on their academic work under such environment.
She said: “Tertiary institutions of learning in Nigeria have been bedevilled with obscene dressing, particularly by female students. The need to curb the ugly trend in our institutions calls for a concerted effort from parents, teachers, religious leaders, authorities of institutions as well as government.”
In his address, the Rector of Kaduna Polytechnic, Dr. Mohammed Bello Ibrahim, explained that evening and weekend programmes were introduced in consideration of the high demand by students for admission into the institution.
While tasking the new students on good conduct, he warned them against indiscipline, and undue unionism under any guise.
