Don advises pupils at Ansar-ud-Deen graduation

A university lecturer has identified youth empowerment, effective time management, good morals and dedication to studies as the virtues pupils must imbibe if they must excel.

Speaking during the valedictory service/prize giving day of Ansar-ud-Deen College, Isolo, Lagos on Wednesday, a lecturer from the University of Lagos, Dr. Lekan Ayefara, in his keynote address, admonished the pupils to put into practice what they have learnt while in the school because it is their access to career development and choices.

Ayefara, who spoke on the theme, ‘Youth empowerment, key to Nation Building’, stressed that for the Nigerian youths to be at par with their counterparts in advanced countries, they must take their destinies in their hands by empowering themselves through reading, researches and technological advancement.

Advising the pupils to ensure they make good career choices as they move to the next level in their academic pursuits, the lecturer urged them to stick to the good morals they have been taught, shun vices and avoid bad company as well as embrace hardwork.

He said, “As you move to the next level of your career, believe in yourself. Don’t allow the environment to weigh you down. At this stage, the foundation for success has been laid for you. Empower yourself by reading and making researches. What you have learnt here is to give you access to career development and areas of specification.”

The principal of the school, Mr. T.O. Adebambo, also advised the pupils that a good foundation had been laid for them by the school and their parents, saying they should work harder and have a focus.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of prizes to pupils/teachers who excelled in various subjects and endeavours.
