Church donates block of two classrooms to community school
THE Living Faith Church, Province 26, Region 11, otherwise known as Winners Chapel in Ogun State has donated a block of two classrooms and exercise books to Itele Primary School, Itele Ota, Ogun State.
At the official hand-over ceremony of the renovated building, the Provincial Coordinator, Pastor Femi Jegede, said the church deemed it necessary to help improve the learning condition of the Nigerian child, having seen the poor learning environment.
“The roof of building was blown off by rain, about 15 years ago and has been left that way. So when we came here, we felt as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and as directed by Bishop David Oyedepo, on the need for community services anywhere we are, we decided to reconstruct the block.”
“We learnt that the school was established by the Anglican Church before government took over the school, and this is the only public primary school in this large community, and they need serious government attention and from other well-meaning Nigerians as they lack a lot of basic learning facilities and do not even have lavatories,” he stressed.
Jegede expressed hope that learning will improve to an extent with the donation of the block. “They would have more space, enough room to admit more students, and students will learn in a good atmosphere. I found out that this school is a century school. Government and other well-meaning Nigerians should come to their aid.” A parent, who identified herself as Aishat Jimoh, commended the church for their gesture. “Winners Chapel has remembered our community. Before now, it rains on our children while they are learning in the classroom, thank God today, our children are happy. Government should build more schools for us. We have big land mass here in Ayetoro Itele and we need more schools. What is on ground at the moment cannot serve our children,’’ she said
