Educationist urges schools to embrace digital learning

An educationist, Mrs. Omotayo Morgan, has called on parents and schools in Nigeria to embrace the World Book Online digital tool for teaching and learning.

The package, according to Morgan, is not only cost, effective but also exposes pupils to imaginative way of thinking and learning.

She spoke at a briefing in Lagos on Wednesday ahead of the presentation of the World Book Digital products in Nigeria.

Morgan, who is the Managing Director, Interworld Management and Services Limited, noted that the online platform was the most current and creative medium of teaching pupils.

She said, “The platform encourages critical thinking and the development of an analytical mind needed to make pupils think outside of the box. It is also suitable for all ages-there is a digital product for every level of learning.

“Besides, it is crafted with the need of the pupils in mind to ensure their commitment to literacy is rewarded with easily understandable text that is informative and eminently readable.

Products of the initiative, she said, spanned all ages, subjects and formats with content that would enrich and enlighten the pupils.

Morgan added, “Since its founding in 1915, the World Book Inc. has been committed to creating accurate, objective and reliable reference materials that are essential for libraries and classrooms.

“Today through the creative use of educational technology, the World Book continues to craft content that helps educators meet the challenges of changing standards, evolving expectations, and engaging and inspiring pupils and patrons.”

The educationist, who stated that two Lagos schools, the Corona Group of Schools and the American International School, had already bought into the initiative, noted the presentation of the products would take place on October 28th and 30th in Lagos.
