NSUK students cry out over new fees

Students of the Faculty of Education at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, have expressed concern over what they termed as ‘new and unjustifiable’ charges for the 2014/2015 academic session.

Some 200 level students of the faculty have alleged that the management of the university had released fees details for the 2014/2015 academic session in which they were expected to pay for the matriculation gown, despite the event being conducted last year. They added that they were also asked to pay for medical laboratory test, a charge they described as strange.
Moreover, they said that tuition fee for 200 level Education students is different from that of other returning students of the institution, noting that before this session all returning students pay the same amount irrespective of their fields of study.
They also alleged that they were asked to pay N2, 500 as teaching practice fee, an amount they said previous students never paid.
“Also, the 400 level students of the faculty are also expected to pay for teaching practice, an exercise they have already done.”
