Man gets eight months prison term for exam malpractices
FOR involving in examination malpractices, Justice Kudirat Jose of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja has sentenced a 20 year-old man, Muhammed Abiodun to eight months imprisonment.
The convicted man was said to have conspired with others involved in fraud and examination malpractices.
Mohammed was arraigned on October 9, 2014 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a one-count charge bordering on conspiracy, fraud and examination malpractices.
He pleaded guilty to the charge preferred against him.
The convict was to have allegedly created a website soliciting for potential candidates sitting for the May/June WAEC Senior School Certificate Examination to subscribe to solutions and answers to the questions at a fee of N4,000 and the account detail of the suspect was also put on the website for payment.
Following his plea of guilty, Justice Jose found him guilty on the one count charge and sentenced him to eight months imprisonment, starting from April, 2014 when he was arrested.
The charge reads, “Raheem Muhammed Abiodun and Shola Ogungbade (a.k.a. Simple) (still at large) on or about the 27th day of January, 2014 at Lagos within the Ikeja Judicial Division with intent to defraud had in your possession a document titled WAEC EXPO/Runs and purported the document to have been issued by West Africa Examinations Council which you published on a website.”
