Nasarawa varsity to resume Oct 12

Students of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) would finally resume on Sunday, October 12, Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Muhammad Akaro Mainoma, has said.

The management of the university sent students on a long vacation that lasted for over three months.
The vice chancellor however told Daily Trust that “the management has scheduled Sunday, October 12 for resumption, after a previous resumption date was cancelled.”
Professor Mainoma said the long break was necessary to allow the university address some outstanding issues which cropped up from the last strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), and other shortcomings.
He named students’ examination results as one of the outstanding issues, explaining that “for three years, results were not processed.” He said examination results were not marked and released to students within the period, which affected academic planning and execution.
Professor Mainoma said the university is stable now, after the four-month vacation during which the institution was able to handle the outstanding issues.
He expressed confidence that if the university system in the country is not plunged into another crisis, NSUK will remain stable.
