CPN inducts FUNAAB graduates


The Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN) has inducted the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 computer science graduates of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State. The ceremony took place at the Mahmood Lecture Theatre of the university, recently.

The brief ceremony had in attendance Professor Waheed, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics who stood in for the Vice Chancellor, who delivered an address on behalf of the VC to emphasise the importance of the regulatory role of the council.

He explained that the institution was determined to produce quality graduates at all times, and as a result, the institution would support the Council’s quality assurance programme, aimed at ensuring standards in the IT profession.

The guest lecturer, Professor Adenike Osofisan, delivered a paper titled ‘Computer Professionals; Move Towards the Frontiers of Knowledge in IT’, while the Head of Department, Computer Science, Dr. A. S. Sodiya, charged the new inductees not to rest on their oars, but to ensure that they attain the pinnacle of the profession.

The awards of CPE II and III scholarships were also given to the best graduating student among the inductees of the 2012/2013 set.

The registrar of the university, Mr Sikiru Akanji Shehu, commended the authority of the institution for creating an enabling environment for the maiden induction ceremony in the school and promised that the council would continue to collaborate with the university in all its activities.
